Project:
With the need to expand our firm converted a vacant retail space into a completely new carry-out/catering operation for Goodie's BBQ Company. This concept or prototype with success would be franchised throughout the city.
Details:
The chosen site had been vacant and neglected for many years, so prior to any work beginning much reconstructing, clean up, and the critical rebuilding of the roof system. The exterior design with new masonry units was distinctly articulated by varying textures, dimensions and color.
Through the small critical assignment of interior function operation drove the design. For example carry-out area fixtures and counter top space, food prep has only essential areas next to walk in cooler were arranged so food/meat supplies enters at one point, and is dropped off at prep tables or stored in cooler. Immediate processing of food into cooked and sellable eats flows linear towards service counter area. Two major cooking areas included: griller, with deep fryers; and a fired baking oven fueled and fired by wood. Other areas were: business office, restroom, supplies storage, and mechanical room.
Facility was insulated at wall, and roof; and thermal insulated window units with sun shading film to reduce solar heat gain; energy efficient light fixtures, and low flush toilets. Security system tied back to main office/shop five miles away as well as to fire and police departments.
