Robertson Hall Upgrading and Renovations - Miami University

Adaptive Reuse & System Upgrades
Client: Miami University Physical Facilities Department
Location: Oxford, Ohio

Project:
Program and redesign a 25,000 sf. former prominent paper science department into a state of the art mixed use facility with a diversity of program needs.

Details:
Nationally ranked paper science program demanded: new laboratories, classrooms, and administrative support areas; conversion of surplus spaces into new campus wide multi-media center with a 20 CPU microcomputer training laboratory.

The three story structure required extensive modifications and replacements to: electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems; fire protection and laboratory fume hoods and other specialized exhaust systems; rearranging walls for more efficiency of operations.

Energy conservation issues were addressed in design of new heating and lighting systems. Critical horizontal and vertical circulation pathways modified to bring about ADA compliance throughout. All public restrooms were renovated to comply with ADA.

FWAS served as Project Architect/Manager under contract to Wilson & Associates.
