Adaptive Reuse & Renovations
Client: Phoenix Community, LC - Board of Directors
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Project:
The project mission was to convert a former small scale hospital building into a state-of-the-art facility to house a growing K-8 grade charter school organization. Existing four story structure was gutted with exception of exterior walls and concrete floor/column core structural components. This 50,000sf shell base was then reprogrammed to accommodate classrooms, science labs, assembly area; staff lounge, kindergarten suite, administrative offices and required support areas and circulation axis and modes. A sensitively designed grand entrance sequence was provided to heighten each student's initial daily delightful engagement with the school.
Details:
Project was successfully designed with replacement to or incorporation of: all major electrical, plumbing, and mechanical unit systems; new fire alarm system; PA and sound system; new computer network; new elevator cab and mechanism; building security system; ADA compliance throughout; totally new restrooms - 2 sets per floor; an overall site improvement for vehicle parking/access and human walk-ability.
