Client: Evergreen Baptist Church, Trustees
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Project:
Church board had realized that facility growth was needed in order to be more efficient with current operations, and to accommodate planned growth for the next 20 to 30 years. Additionally with existing restrictive conditions limited by the architectural "A" frame shape.
Details:
Staff conducted interviews with all key organizations and church officials which were compiled as part of programming booklet. This booklet also included three different options for possible expansion. Cost related factors also accompanied each scheme. Extensive design/concept reviews were performed with key group - once completed, one selected scheme was revised and presented to the whole church body.
Unique element of concept provided a light band connection between nodule additions so that daylight penetration in the additions appeared to be floating into each other. This concept also allowed for deep penetration of sunlight - filtered by the ribbons of custom designed stained glass. The solution incorporated the ability of the church to expand from the new 750 seating capacity up to 1,300 before site limitations would require more land.
