Project:
A difficult to develop site at the intersection of two key streets in the Avondale Community needed to be analyzed and a feasible plan created for the development of housing units - which would be targeted to homeownership.

Our Staff intensely studied the site's topography and other challenges, and then created a uniquely new topographical solution making it possible to construct a maximum of eight duplex townhouses without having a typical street arrangement. Each living unit had an open plan concept for public spaces such as living, dining, and kitchen functions, while the more private areas were located on the upper floors and separated with walls and doors. The structures were oriented east/west to take advantage of the morning rising sun and the afternoon setting sun. Additional buildings were detailed to be highly energy efficient with: roof overhangs, airlock at main doors; plumbing fixtures to be low flush/water usage and/or have high est. energy ratings possible. Units were designed also to provide standardization of functional floor plan - in order to eliminate waste during construction.
