Retrofitting of secured facilities to bring current with fire safety codes and to solve problem of severe deterioration of masonry elevations.
Details:
The Youth Development Center built in 1971, was in serious need of upgrading to meet current safety standards for fire, life safety, and building codes. Due to serious brick spalling, cracking, and deterioration remediation of the exterior envelope became a main priority.
The structure a single story masonry building with bar joist flat roof structure containing approximately 28,000 sf. in area. The occupancy is a 24/7 secure, restricted custody facility, use group I-3.
The project's goals accomplished were: replace/repair major sections of all exterior masonry elevations; replace the roof system; install fire suppression system; upgrade fire alarm system, including smoke evacuation; and new electrical backup power generator system.
Project completed months ahead of schedule.
