New Advance Technology Learning Center (ATLC) New Parking Garage

New Construction & Site Design
Client: Cincinnati State Technical & Community College (Ohio Board of Regents)
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Project:
The design of a uniquely advance technological academic facility of 196,500 SF. crested on the hillside edge of a hilltop campus with a 20,000sf. new parking garage nested into the hill on the north side. This facility would become the main operational and classroom building for college administration; a regionally acclaimed Midwest Culinary Arts program; and an award winning Informational Technology Program. Additionally, the facility would provide the college with its first true center for student life programs and community share spaces.

Details:
An overriding goal to redefine the physical image of the campus, college within the large educational community. By its hilltop location, the ATLC presence would be undeniable. This position also offered significant opportunities for the architect team to create and then magnify internal and external presence.

An early challenge stabilizing the sloping hillside for foundation structure suitable for the new building was successfully accomplished. This involved rerouting the one main drive back on itself, as the site underwent reconstruction.

Creative and thoughtful problem solving produced a three day design charette which resulted in the three architectural firms team sharing 90% of the critical matters. As a result, the schematic and design development phases were accelerated and efficient client's approval sped construction documents process. In the end all were completed well ahead of original schedule.
